Dr. Arthur William Craig Abrom, 56
September 24, 2023
Dr. Arthur William Craig Abrom passed away on September 24th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey on July 20th 1967, he was the son of Barbara (Furo) Abrom and the late Arthur Grant Abrom.
Arthur was the school Superintendent for the Lebanon School District and also served the School District of Lancaster for twenty years. He loved his job and the community, working with the students and staff to follow his motto: H.O.P.E. Help One Person Every day. Arthur completed his Ed.D. at Widener University; his M.Ed. at Arizona State University; and his bachelors in Music Education at Susquehanna University and Berklee College of Music.
Arthur was heavily involved in his community, specifically in the pursuit of quality education. At the School District of Lancaster, he held various administrative roles and served as the Principal of Lafayette Elementary school. During his time with the district, he raised millions of dollars to support both students and staff. Arthur oversaw student assistance programs, training programs for principals, support programs for homeless students and families, and initiatives that focused on drop-out prevention to ensure that every student remained in school ready to learn. He also established a family center for parents.
Upon joining Lebanon School District as a Superintendent, Arthur set a new vision for Lebanon’s 5,000+ students, ensuring priorities such as student-centeredness and literacy. He launched the Community Schools Program, expanding access to services for students in the evenings and weekends. Arthur also played an instrumental role in building a new junior high school to alleviate overcrowding at Lebanon Middle School, and the new building is set to open in August 2024. He was remembered for his Monthly Moments messages to staff, good sense of humor, and for making students the priority.
Arthur was a man of faith who put God and family first. He enjoyed serving on the worship team; played five instruments; loved to play golf; and was an avid NY Giants fan. In his free time, he wrote music, supported the arts community, and loved to travel.
Arthur was the devoted husband of Joanne (Kloss) Abrom, and loving father to three daughters, Amanda Abrom & husband Daniel Charytonowicz, Emily Abrom, and Danielle Hope Abrom. He was older brother to Gregory Abrom & wife Laura Abrom, and is survived by eight nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests for a viewing on Sunday October 1st, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, from 1 PM to 5 PM. A service will follow at the funeral home at 6pm.
The family is creating a memorial scholarship to honor his legacy and support future students majoring in education or music. GoFuneMe Link

I had the pleasure of working with Art in SDOL. Art was a Principal and I was in a central office leadership position. Art was always about what was best for his students and staff. That was reflected when i visited with staff and students. Where some people saw problems, he saw challenges and looked for ways to make things better. He was so proud of his family. His love for them was evident whenever he talked about them. My deepest condolences. Christine Bunce

To Arthur’s Family,
I was Arthur’s mentor when he became Lafayettes Principal and later encouraged him to join the Widener leadership program, becoming a member of his dissertation committee. Arthur was committed to his students, staff, and community. A true scholar, friend, and fellow musician. Education has lost a strong leader. RIP my friend….Dave Rentschler

Upon his appointment as Superintendent for the LSD, Arthur joined our Lebanon Rotary Club. His pride was evident proud when he shared the accomplishments of his students from LHS as we recognized them as Students of the Month. His good natured teasing with administrators from the other schools whose students were also being recoginized, always offering the students from other districts interested in pursuing education a future position at LSD, brought a smile to everyone in the room. His presence, smile, and voice in our meetings will be missed by all. He lived the Rotary 4 Way Test daily. God bless, be at peace Arthur, condolences and prayers to his family.

Arthur was one of the true good guys. Always placing others first. He was funny and smart. We served together as Superintendents and spent time in workshops together as well. He is a loss to the educational community and to the school district that he championed. A true friend, true leader, and humble survant.
