Dorothy E. “Dot” Paul, 83

Dorothy “Dot” E. Paul, 83, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at Lancaster General Hospital on Friday, February 17, 2012. Born in Peckville, PA Lackawanna County, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Lucas) Efcavitch.

She was a member of the Silver Sneakers at Universal Athletic Club and the PP&L Retirees Club. Dorothy found gardening and cooking to be two of her favorite pastimes.

She is survived by two sons, Brian E. Paul of Easton, PA, Bruce R. Paul, of Lancaster, and a daughter Brenda E. Williams, wife of Matthew of Beverly, MA. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Ritzco, Sue DeAngelo, Helen Csuka, Julie Geiger and three brothers, John, William, and Nicholas Efcavitch.

Our sympathies to Brian, Bruce and Brenda on the passing of your mother and closest friend.  We are living in the house which your Mom sold to us for her mother in 1960.  Many good memories surround us.  Many times your Mom and Dad visited us in "her" house.  We always know that your Mom and her siblings had a happy life here in this house and we, too, had a happy life with our three children.  God bless the memory of your Grandma and Grandpa who built this home for us to enjoy!  And especially bless the memory of your Mom and Dad, whom we fondly remember.  Our love to each of you.

Jean and Paul Zyats

Dear Brian, Bruce, and Brenda, my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mother. Dot was always willing to help at St. John Neumann parish with various activities and she did it with grace. She was proud of her children and loved you all. I now live in FL and cannot be there to say goodbye to her. May God bring you all comfort and peace and know that she is with your dad and our Lord in heaven.

To Brian, Brenda, and Bruce,
My thoughts and prayers have been with you as I watched for notice of your mother’s passing — I am sorry I was unable to be with you then.
But I trust you are held tenderly in God’s care as you navigate this new territory of grief for your mother. May your journey forward be filled with sustaining graces.

Go in peace, for it is the gift of God.
Go in safety, for you cannot go where God is not."

Peace,

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Brian, Bruce and Brenda for the loss of their mother.  Dot was truly a kind, compassionate and caring mother and friend. Such a very, very nice person – she will be missed by all of us, but we can rejoice in that she will be with our Father in Heaven.

Brian, Bruce and Brenda,

My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. Words cannot express how special your mother was. I loved her tremendously and will miss her. I enjoyed every opportunity I had to spend time with her and hear about her life experiences, family history and especially her take on politics. 🙂 I had the distinct privilege of being your mother’s guide through New Jersey a few years ago and loved the chance to show her home state. When I moved to Manheim Township she welcomed me with open arms. Whenever I’d run into her at Oregon Dairy or the gym she would greet me with a warm smile. She was gracious, kind and one heck of a good cook! You were her pride and joy. Her eyes would light up whenever she spoke about her children. Mrs.Paul was one of a kind. My memories of her are fond and I will always cherish her.

Your friend,
Michael J Cuozzo

Bruce and family,

Your Mom was the best. Every time we visited and saw her in Lancaster when we came up from Baltimore, she was so wonderful. Don remembers when he met her after a late night trip back to Lancaster the next morning when you both were in college at Loyola. We still remember many years ago when Stacey was about 3 and she walked her around the yard like another grandmother. Stacey still remembers that and now she is grown up. The entire Barron Family here in Baltimore, Don, Anna, Stacey, Joseph and Michael all send our deepest sympathies to all of you.

May God hold her in the palm of His hand.
Don and Anna Barron

Dot was such a warm, loving and caring person.  We shared many days at St. Anne’s School working together. The used clothing and uniform swap program she so happily organized and manned was a blessing to many families and students. I will always have fond memories.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this loss.

Sincerely,
Trudy and Jim Sheetz

To Our Dear Cousins: Brian, Bruce and Brenda,

Brian, Bruce and Brenda,
I was so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. I appreciated her friendship
as I worked to help her with the yard and flowerbeds. She won’t see the next bloom of her beautiful roses and peonies, but she is enjoying an eternal garden, at peace with your Dad.God’s blessings with you at this time.
