Condolences to the Family

Dixie was a dear friend and I will miss our conversations and visits. We have been friends for around 57 years. Wayland and Bill were stationed at Fort Campbell KY. Sonja was around 6 months at the time. She had a giving heart and always took time to help anyone in need. If she had a dollar and someone needed it she would give it. Most of all she loved her family and was proud of each of you. I have many fond memories of the great times we shared as our families would visit each other. One Fall I was there and helped out at The Hut. I tried to teach everyone how to say coffee. Had a fun time waiting on customers the southern way. I am so sorry for your loss. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to each of you.

Dixie Petrey was one  of the sweetest people I have known. Her love of her family and pride in her grandchildren was always foremost in her thoughts and conversation. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Penny, Monica, Billy:  Always enjoyed the time I visited with both Bill (my cousin) and Dixie.  Her family was the most important thing in her life.  She was always very hospitable I especailly appreciated the kindness she showed to my mother when they worked together…many, many years ago. My thoughts are of all of you and my prayers for your peace and comfort during this time of sadness.  Sympathy, Joyce Blouch

Aunt Dixie always had a deep pride for her family and home. She had it natural when it came to neatness and organization. She liked fancy clothes and decor, yet always down to earth to talk with. I will always remember her having little Dixie Cups in her bathroom. You are in our thoughts and prayers- Penny, Billy Monika and families. With deepest love from Uncle Tim, Candy, Cindy and Steffy and families.

Aunt Dixie, thank you for always making everyone feel so welcome in your home. Thank you for helping me look for work when I first arrived in PA. Thank you for taking me shopping and making sure I “looked the part.” Thank you for putting together the most beautiful country wedding in a matter of 2 short weeks, so that I could have my special day just the way I wanted it. Thank you for always putting on a pot of coffee and serving me every time I came over to visit. Thank you for teaching me how to make beds and fold towels properly. Thank you for letting me work at The Hut, even though I was a horrible cashier. Thank you for loving my uncle with all of your heart. Thank you for my 3 cousins. Thank you for coming out to Indiana to visit us Hackers. Thank you for taking me to Vacation Bible School when I was really little when we came out to visit you in PA. I will never forget the church piggy bank I made out of popsicle sticks that summer and I kept it and used it all the time, until it fell apart. Thank you for all the help you have given me and my daughter. Please give Uncle Bill and your mom a hug and kiss for me. You are loved and missed so very much! Love, Steffy, Crystal, Tim & Tabor 💗
Penny, Billy and Monika,

Your mom and I definitely had great times and a lot of laughter together…….Pretzel Hut……Winners Circle Saloon……..shopping…….and I will cherish those memories. I have always chosen to remember the best of times…and the Pretzel Hut definitely comes to mind more often than not.  From all the late nights closing up the place to Billy, Gary and Tom messing around, to Cindy and I wondering if we would ever see the end of the line.  I even remember my future husband, Tony calling me one night from BOLIVIA and Bill helping me talk to him because I had to keep saying “over” at the end of my sentences.  Penny, Monika, Billy…thanks for sharing your parents with all the kids that “grew up” at the Hut.  Both Dixie and Bill will always hold a special place in my heart and I am sure in the hearts of others.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. It’s such a small world that Monika and Alan are now our landlords. But I actually remember Dixie from The Pretzel Hut, growing up at the camp we always went to the the Pretzel Hut and Dixie was always so kind to myself and my brothers. We also had a dauschaund dog that would sometimes when we left him out knew the back way to the Pretzel Hut, Dixie would feed him a hot dog or something good and send him on his way if we couldn’t find him usually if we called she would say yeah he was there and she sent him on his way.Becky Wettig

To all of the Petry kids & grandchildren. Just know your mom, gramma is in a better place. There is no more pain, and she is with her mom & dad, loving sisters & brother, & devoted husband! I’m sure you all will miss her, remember all the fun you guys had with her, and all the good times. You are all in my prayers for you to be held in God’s loving arms and be comforted.

I think Dixie gave me my first purse as a little girl filled with all kinds of girly things. Haha, she loved shopping! I have very fond memories of her. She will be deeply missed by many ♥️
We are lifting the entire family up in prayer during this time. God bless you all.
All our love,
Nikki (& Fernandez family)
