Diana Elizabeth Attanasi, 78
May 20, 1947 - December 02, 2025
Diana Elizabeth Attanasi went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2025, with her three daughters and husband present at Lancaster General Hospital. She was born May 20, 1947 in Elizabeth, NJ to Nicholas and Elizabeth Frank at Elizabeth General Hospital, in Elizabeth, NJ.
Diana grew up in Linden, New Jersey. As an adult she lived in Vienna, Va. for 47 years before moving to Lancaster in 2018 to be close to family. Diana attended Linden High School (NJ) graduating in 1965 and George Mason University (Va). She retired in 2011 as the financial officer for Marshall Road Elementary School, Vienna, Va. Prior to that she worked as an executive secretary at Merck, as a departmental administrative assistant at the University of Missouri, and as financial accountant for a Northern Virginia consulting firm.
Diana was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and husband. She was a passionate volunteer at Centerpointe Church (Fairfax) in the Sunday School, children’s outreach, and young girl’s programs as well as at Marshall Road Elementary and Thomas Jefferson High, schools attended by her children. She was an unusually giving and completely self-sacrificing individual for the welfare of her family and her community. Diana was a constant encouragement to her husband, Emil.
Diana loved her family. She regularly found new ways to invest in her girls’ lives and took on the roles of room mother, PTA president, Sunday School teacher, girls’ group leader, and chauffeur. She went on all the field trips and attended all the sports games, recitals, and orchestra concerts. She made ziti and her famous potato salad for many potlucks. She taught her girls to craft and to sew, and together they made Christmas ornaments, presents, and cookies for their loved ones.
In her retirement, Diana delighted in spending time with her grandchildren in Lancaster and Kentucky. She found great joy in watching her grandchildren play and grow up together, especially during holidays and summer family vacations at the Jersey Shore, where they would gather sea shells together. She always found new ways to give generously, especially to her girls and grandkids.
Diana loved with an open heart. She will be greatly missed.
Diana is predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Nicholas, and brothers, Nicholas and George. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Emil, and daughters Jennifer of Lancaster, Katherine Barker of Bowling Green, Ky (James her husband, children Jacob and Hannah), and Marie Lehman of Lancaster (Justin her husband, children Lillian, Claire, and Ellen), her brother William Frank of Somerville, Me (Betty his wife), and sister in-law Donna Frank of Manasquan, NJ.
A private interment is scheduled at 1 pm December 9, 2025 at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ. The Celebration of Life will be at 11 am on December 27, 2025 at New Life Church, 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, Pa with greeting at 10 am.
