David C. Ritchey, 52

David C. Ritchey, “Big Dave”, 52, passed away at his Holtwood home on Sunday, June 18, 2017, with his loving wife of 30 years, Patti S. (Hershey) Ritchey, by his side. Dave was born in Lancaster, the son of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Shenk) Ritchey of Manheim.

He graduated from Manheim Central High School in 1982 and the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY in 1985. Along with his wife Patti, he owned and operated Big Dave’s Specialty Sauces & BBQ from 2009 to 2016. Dave also worked at Dutch Valley Food Development in New Holland until May of 2017.

Dave had proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed hunting in Bedford County and boating at Raystown Lake and on the Chesapeake Bay.

In addition to his wife Patti and parents Kenneth and Elizabeth, Dave is survived his brother Brian Ritchey, husband of Susan of Landisville and his two beloved Labrador Retrievers.

Dave’s family will greet friends from 10 to 11 AM, followed by his memorial service at 11 AM, on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551. Chaplain David Brubaker will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, 2102 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
