Darlene E. Mattson, 91

January 18, 2024

Darlene E. Mattson, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 18, 2024. She joins her husband of 60 years, Paul, who passed away in March of 2022. She was the mother of Paul Mattson, Jr. (wife Alyssa) and Pam Wegert (husband Jim) and the grandmother of Moriah, Erik, Shanna, and Michael Mattson, Joshua and Tyler Wegert. They will never forget her constant love, caring prayers, and unwavering encouragement and support. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved hearing updates about their lives and joyfully displayed a gallery of photos of them on her mantle.
She started working when she was young and by age 14, she was managing an ice cream shop. After graduating from Ravenswood High School in Chicago and business school, she worked as an executive secretary, church youth director, real estate agent, and office manager. She volunteered frequently for her church and she served as the Scripture Secretary for the Gideons Auxiliary. Although she fulfilled many responsibilities at her various jobs, her favorite responsibilities were being a loving wife, mom, and grandma.
One of her favorite sayings was, “Put it in the Lord’s hands.” She is now in His hands and is enjoying seeing her beloved Paul and other believing friends and family. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Brethren Village Chapel (3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA) at 2:00 p.m. on April 13, 2024. Donations in memoriam can be made to Gideons International gideons.org
