Daniel G. Charles, 62, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 1, 2015. Born in Bird-In-Hand, PA, Dan was the husband of Darlene "Dolly" Bowman Charles and they celebrated their 26th anniversary on June 18th. He was the son of the late W. Claude and Miriam Eisenberger Charles. Dan attended Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church with Dolly and will be most remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone when they needed him, and he had a love of western wear. As a child, he was a mechanic and enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together again. He also had a special place in his heart for Friendship Community. He worked as a truck driver for Shawnee Trucking. He enjoyed watching birds and doing yard work, and was a wonderful husband. In addition to his wife, Dolly, he is survived by two brothers, John W., husband of Dorothy G. Charles, Willow Street, PA; Robert C. Charles, Harrisonburg, VA, and a sister M. Lois Charles, Lancaster, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, B. Elizabeth Charles. He will be kindly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Dan will be greatly missed by his loving dog and companion, Dozer. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
