Charlotte B. Hansen, 86, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania died peacefully in her home on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Born in Augsburg, Germany in 1939, she was the daughter of the late Mathilde Kretzschmar. In 1960, at the age of 21, she boarded a ship for the United States to work as an au pair. In 1964 she met and married Per K. Hansen of Oslo, Norway. Through Per’s job as a civil engineer with Bechtel Construction Corp. they lived all over the U.S. with their three children: including California, Washington, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Maryland.

Charlotte worked as a homemaker raising her three children. She was an avid lifelong gardener and cook. She enjoyed hosting parties and entertaining friends and family around her kitchen table. Her beloved husband, Per, passed away suddenly in 1993 and she briefly returned to Germany to work as a caregiver.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Karin Hansen (Todd Janeski) of Virginia, Christian Hansen of Pennsylvania, Elisabeth Stockton (Jordan) of California; grandchildren Jacob Janeski, Maxwell Stockton, and Zoe Stockton; and her sister Helga Martin of Pennsylvania.
