Charles W. Blankenmeyer, 82

Charles W. Blankenmeyer, 82, of Lancaster, PA passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy, PA. He was the husband of Rose Marie (Hertz) Blankenmeyer to whom he was married for 44 years.
Born in Lancaster, PA he was a son of the late Richard W. and Henrietta D. (Leschke) Blankenmeyer. Charles was a 1952 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and worked as a clerk in the drafting office at High Industries for over 27 years until his retirement. He was a devout member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Charles was a Benedictine Oblate associated with the St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, PA. He was also a Hi-Beamer with other High Industries retirees. He enjoyed photography, woodworking and camping. Charles was an avid Washington Nationals Baseball fan and enjoyed horseback riding in his youth. He was a friend to everyone he met and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons Chase and Troy.
In addition to his wife Rose Marie, he is survived by his children Gerard J. Blankenmeyer husband of Stevie of Marietta, PA and Mary E. wife of Neal Rice of Manheim, PA; two grandsons Chase William Blankenmeyer and Troy Francis Blankenmeyer; one sister Joan wife of George Wike of Lancaster, PA and one brother Dennis Blankenmeyer husband of Mary of Conestoga, PA; and many loving nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by a brother Richard Blankenmeyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment will follow in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 5-7pm from the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:45pm Sunday evening in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund, 119 S. Prince St. Lancaster, PA 17603 or to Schreiber Pediatric, 625 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603 in his memory.

MY deepest sympathy to Rose and her family. They will be remembered in thought and prayer as we will be unable to attend the funeral since we are leaving on vacation this weekend.
