Charles J. Pletcher, 57

Charles “Chuck” J. Pletcher, 57, of Lancaster, went to be with his Lord on April 20th, 2007.

He was the husband of Stella A. (Waugh) Pletcher, with whom he celebrated 38 years of marriage this past March 15th. Born in Pittsburgh, Chuck was the son of the late Charles W. and Ruth H. Dusch Pletcher.

Chuck was well-known as the owner of Pletcher’s Sunoco service station on Columbia Ave. He had also operated at several other locations since his start in 1969, including Manheim Pike, Lancaster Ave in Columbia, and Manor Street.

He was an active member at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, usher, and helped with the Christmas dinner.

Chuck had been the baseball coach and girls basketball coach at St. Anne’s School for 31 years. He was also a member of the Crusader Youth Activities Assn., where he also served as the Assn. Athletic Director and the girl’s league director.

He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles F. married to Kerri J. Pletcher of New Providence; a daughter Angela P. married to Kevin R. Carpenter of Lancaster, and by 8 grandchildren: Charles J. II, Corinne, Austin, Samantha and Makensy Pletcher, and Mariah, TJ, and Faith Carpenter. He is also survived by  3 sisters: Patricia Ann married to Elvin L. High of Columbia and Anna M. Walton and Marie C. Pletcher, both of Lancaster; 2 brothers, both of Lancaster, Robert R. married to Nancy L. Pletcher, and Raymond G. married to Deborah L. Pletcher, and by several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Friends will be received on Monday from 6-9PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Friends may call again on Tuesday from 10-11AM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 929 N. Duke St., Lancaster, with Mass to follow at 11AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Chuck’s memory to the Crusader Youth Activities Assn., Attn Don Platt, c/o St. Anne’s Catholic School, 929 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
