Carlos Manuel Oquendo, Sr., 79
August 12, 2020
Carlos Manuel Oquendo, Sr., 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy. Born in Puerto Rico, Carlos was the son of the late Manuel and Julia Oquendo. He was the loving and faithful husband of Rosalia Oquendo, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage.
For 3 years, Carlos proudly served in the US Army as a Medic in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1969. An industrial painting contractor by trade, Carlos was an artist at heart and enjoyed oil painting. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. He was a jack of all trades, but unlike others, he was a master of construction, plumbing, painting, etc. and could build houses with his skills. Most importantly to Carlos was his deep faith. Carlos was a devoted servant of God and enjoyed spending time studying the Bible and knew it inside and out.
Carlos will be greatly missed by his wife Rosalia; his children: Rosalia Ortiz, wife of Esequiel, of Salunga; Carlos Oquendo, Jr., husband of Amnerys, of Florida; and Melissa Oquendo Abernathy, wife of Shawn, of Salunga; grandchildren: Emily, Daniel, Lillian, Andrea, Sean, Alyssa, Amarie, Anthony, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren: Kyani, Ender, Laith, Adien, Avery, and Adycn. Carlos was preceded in death by his siblings: Margarita and Johnny.
Funeral Services for Carlos will be held at 12PM, Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, under the tent on the South Lawn. Family and friends will be received for a viewing from 10AM to 12PM. Interment at Laurel Hill will follow.
