Carl F. “Charlie” Kuhn, 86

Carl F. “Charlie” Kuhn, 86, formerly of New Holland, passed away on October 31, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Alice D. Kuhn for over 61 years. Alice passed away last year.

Charlie was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Straubmiller Textile High School and then attended Electrical School, both in Manhattan, NY.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Holland and formerly a member of St. Michael Evangelical Lutheran Church, Strasburg.

Charlie was involved in Scouting for over 40 years, and was on the District Committee of the Conestoga River District; Leader of Pack 19 and Troop 603, both in Brooklyn; District Commissioner with Troop 28 Paradise, and a former member of the Throwing Bull Tribe. He received the Silver Beaver Award, Scouting’s highest recognition for service. He was a former member of the Paradise Township Lions Club.

Charlie and Alice enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Carl and Agnes (Rada) Kuhn. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey C. married to Debra (Geesey) Kuhn and Russell P. Kuhn married to Debbie Longacre (Gerhardt); two daughters, Debra A. Poling and Karen married to John Piascinski; four grandchildren, Jason Kuhn, Joshua Kuhn, Jordan Piascinski and Joseph Piascinski, two great-grandchildren Audie Kuhn and Scout Kuhn; and two brothers, John Kuhn of Paradise and William married to Corina Kuhn of Twinsburg, OH.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 3:00 until 4:00 PM in the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA. The funeral is 4:00 PM in the chapel with chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. Interment will be private.

I met Carl when I was a young and New Electrician Apprentice at Armstrong Cork. Lancaster Floor plant. We called him Chuck, or Charlie.

I remember his wife and how so very close they were with each other and their family. I really loved his dad a former electrical contractor like Carl who also relocated here from NYC.
As a mentor he made an impact on my life. We became great co workers and good friends. May God bless you and keep you Charlie. Thanks again for the great memories.
