Brian W. Peters, 66

Brian W. Peters, 66, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday May 2, 2010. He was born in Watts Township, Perry County to the late Stanley and Grace (Louden) Peters.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Dale (Lippincott) Peters. On December 20, 2009 they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Brian was a math teacher for thirty-three years. He taught 7th and 8th grade math at Centerville and Landisville Middle Schools in Hempfield School District until his retirement.

Brian graduated from Lycoming College in 1966 and
also earned his Master’s Equivalency.

He was a junior high wrestling coach, as well as a high school track and field coach for Hempfield School District.

Brian golfed frequently and operated a part-time painting business in his early years.  In his presence, no Rubik’s Cube or puzzle ever went unsolved.  He enjoyed walking and hiking with his family and friends, especially at Long’s Park, the Good Drive Trails, and while vacationing.  Brian always looked forward to traveling to visit his children and grandchildren.  One of his greatest joys in life was having his grandchildren crawl onto his lap to spend time with their beloved PopPop.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Dale, are their three children, two sons, James (J.B.) Peters, of Broomfield, CO, Gregory M. Peters and devoted girlfriend Nicole Thomas, of Lancaster; daughter, Amy L. Brubaker, wife of Jason, Brevard, NC; four grandchildren: Kara Peters, Emma, Abby, and Jake Brubaker; three sisters, Eva Kline, of Sipesville, PA, Nettie Patterson, wife of Gordon, of Hershey, PA, Edna (Cookie) Little, wife of Richard, of Newport, PA; and one brother, Stephen Peters, husband of Karen, of Newport, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother Mike Peters, and his granddaughter Talia Lynn Brubaker.

The Peters family would like to extend a gracious thank you to all of the staff at LGH ICU for their professional and compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11am at Salem United Church of Christ, 2312 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 with the Rev. Laverne DiNino officiating. A visitation with the family will take place at the church from 10-11am. A luncheon will be served in the church Fellowship Hall following the service.
