Beverly Shertzer, 71
October 14, 2025
On October 14, 2025, Beverly Shertzer, age 71, of Willow Street, passed away peacefully in her home following a struggle with heart disease for the past year. Born in Lancaster, she was the only child of the late William and Esther (Beam) Bitts. She was preparing to celebrate her 51st wedding anniversary in November with her loving husband, Richard Shertzer.
Bev will be fondly remembered as a social butterfly, frequently spending time with her friends going to the movies, traveling on “girl vacations” around the US, or scrapbooking excursions. Her self-proclaimed “happy place” was the casino and playing bingo or driving around in her beloved Jeep. Her carefree and jovial sense of humor, along with her infectious laugh, attracted people to get to know her and ultimately love her.
Most importantly to Bev, she cared for others, especially her family. Creating memories and spending time with her family is something she treasured. While attending nursing school, she found herself as a primary caregiver for some of her family members. This period was instrumental in her career as she would go on to be a hospice nurse for over 30 years.
She will be sorely missed by her loving husband Rick, their children, Eric Shertzer, husband of Becky of Pequea, and Kelly Kile, wife of Jeff of Mt. Wolf, and her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Mom Mom”, Kayla & Jakob Shertzer, and Hailey & Peyton Kile.
A Celebration of Beverly’s legacy will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pk., Willow Street, PA 17584, beginning at 1 PM. The family will welcome guests at the funeral home from 11 AM – 1 PM. Interment to follow at Conestoga Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, or Penn State Hershey Medical Center Heart Group.
