Bettie H. Garbini, 82
April 13, 2016
Bettie H. Garbini, 82, of Millersville, entered into rest on Wednesday April 13th 2016 at home with her family by her side. She never lost her faith or sense of humor in her final months.
Born in Lancaster Pa. on June 19th 1933 to Richard D. Hamby and Barbara (Carter) Hamby. She was the wife of Delfo Garbini, whom she was married to for 62 years.
During her life she worked at RCA, taking time off to raise her children. She enjoyed helping people and giving back to the community. She volunteered at LGR as a Grey Ladies, worked the phones at Contact and helped at the Council of Churches. She was a greeter, and Eucharist Minister at St. Philip the Apostle Church. She was a member of Guys and Dolls, and AARP Centerville Unit 4221. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and dragging Delfo to yard sales every Saturday. She enjoyed cleaning up her yard sales finds and donating them to local charities. She was a strong supporter of the military overseas, sending packages monthly. Once a month she enjoyed her shopping trip to the QVC employee store.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Douglas J. Garbini of Canadensis Pa. and Dellyne E Tooth of Millersville. She had three grandchildren, Joseph, (Alissa) Garbini, John (Shelby) Garbini and Danielle Tooth. She was blessed with three great grandchildren, Jayden Tooth, Kaylanie Sanchez and Myka Eilers. She shared a special bond with Jayden and became his lawyer and negotiator when things didn’t go his way. Bettie is survived by brothers, Rodney and Bernard Hamby, and sisters, Hilda Bourdeaux and Jessie Badeaux.
In. keeping with the way she lived her life, Bettie’s last wish was to donate her body to Hershey Medical Center for the advancement of science.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster Pa, 17603 with Fr. Lawrence Sherdel as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:30AM to 11:00 AM, Mass begins at 11:00AM.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to Hospice, especially Linda Harnish, Megan, Jessica and all whole support team. Our family would have been lost without all their loving support in this very difficult time.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, Uncle Del and Douglas and Dellyne. I have fond memories of staying with you and visiting on weekends when my dad was stationed in Maryland. I’m sorry that we won’t be able to come to the service as mom’s health is not good enough to travel but we will be there in spirit. Love you all, Audrey Hamby
