Bernice M. Pitts, 75
Bernice “Bunny” M. Pitts, 75, of 396 Colonial Crest Dr., Lancaster, died Monday at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
She was the wife of the late Herbert A. Pitts, who died in 1983. Bernice and Herbert were former residents of Sylacauaga, Alabama for many years. Born in Davenport, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Marie L. Monnier McDermott.
Bernice had worked at the Hallmark Cardtique in Chelsea Square, where she had served as the manager from 1990 until 2001. Retiring as manager in 2001, she then worked at the Centerville Rd. Cardtique until her illness. Prior to this, she had been the owner and operator of a ladies dress boutique, Bunny’s Sugar and Spice, for 10 years in Sylacauga.
She loved to paint, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Bernice also loved to travel, and, being a real people person, had been an organizer of Bunnyhop Travel, for groups in Alabama that traveled to Hawaii and also to Lancaster County.
She is survived by a daughter, Michele M. married to William C. Fleet of Lititz, a grandson Jonathan L. Martin of Myrtle Beach, SC, and by a brother, Lon married to Connie Larssen of Manheim. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edmund McDermott Jr.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 16th from 7-9PM at the Charles Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
