Benjamin K. “Benji” Greenawalt, 71

Benjamin K. “Benji” Greenawalt, 71, of Pequea, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.
He was the husband of Edith “Edie” (Weaver) Greenawalt of Pequea, and the son of the late Albert E. and Sarah (Koser) Greenawalt.
Benji enjoyed his Harley motorcycle, painting, and camping. He cherished his family and their family travels.
From 1972 to 1980 he was the owner/operator of Benji’s Diner, and then he worked for a number of years as a salesman for Agri-King Inc. After his time there, he bought and sold real estate.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his daughters: Teresa L. Conaway and her husband Greg; and Kelly L. Sumpter and her husband Curtis; three grandchildren: Ashley, Ali, and Kurtis; three sisters: Alpha Oberholtzer and her husband Richard; Arlene Brackbill and her husband Ken; and Sara Jane Boltz and her husband Ralph; and three brothers: J. Albert Greenawalt and his wife Carol; Aaron Greenawalt and his wife Sylvia; and Roscoe Greenawalt and his wife Hannah. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Greenawalt; and a sister, Ardella Greenawalt.
Memorial services will be held at 5 pm Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA with Rev. Irvin Straw officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions in Benji’s memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Dr., PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Dear Edie, I wanted to be there,but I didn’t make it, just to see the families of both sides, I wanted to Ruthie and I knew some of the Greenwalts, I worked with his parents at Moyer’s Potato Chips in E-Town and was out at there place for several meals, and Sarah taugh my ex wife to cut my hair, I hope you are doing well I haven’t seen you or Ruthy since Gladis viewing, Wishing you the best and God Bless. Dear Edie, I know how much You loved your Benji.You always had that twinkle in your eye when you talked about him. Hard to believe that 45 years have pasted since we lived in Cresswell. Ben was always such a positive person, full of inspiration. I will always remember him calling his wife his “sweetie.” Ben will be missed. My condolenes to the family.
