Barry Douglas Blodgett, 58
September 27, 1965 - February 03, 2024
Barry Douglas Blodgett of Lititz, PA passed away on February 3, 2024 after a brief, valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Lima, Ohio, September 27, 1965, he would have celebrated 30 years of marriage with his loving wife, Melanie (Newlon) Blodgett on June 4.
After earning a degree in Architecture from The Ohio State University in 1990, he and his family moved to Lititz with Armstrong World Industries in 1998.
Barry’s hobbies included following NASCAR, golf, and football. After becoming a Notre Dame subway alumnus under his wife’s influence, Barry shifted his allegiance to the Fightin’ Irish. Sunday was his day for his beloved Miami Dolphins. Barry was an aficionado of WWII history and movies, reading many books on the subject.
His pride and joy were his two daughters, Arla Jean (AJ) and Georgia. He enjoyed taking his girls to polo, spending time outdoors, and playing board games.
He is survived by his wife and daughters and by three sisters, Betsy (Dave Mason) Blodgett, Bonnie (Dan) Meffley, Barb (Kris) Weigel, and nephews Doug (Maureen Palchak) Meffley and Chris (Kacie) Meffley. He is pre-deceased by his parents Roy and Arla Jeanne Blodgett and brother, Gary Blodgett.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 9 from 6 – 8 pm, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. I have come to know and love his daughter AJ over the years through working together at Brethren Village. I only met Mr. Blodgett once and felt what a kind soul he was. His spirit is reflected every day in the countenance of his wonderful daughters!
