Arthur W. Bridgwood, 90
Arthur W. Bridgwood, 90, of 849 Olde Hickory Rd., Lancaster, died Tuesday September 19, 2006 at Lancaster General Health Campus.
Born in Astoria, Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late Arthur and Caroline Simmons Bridgwood. He celebrated 61 years of marriage to Betty Harper Bridgwood on December 18th.
Mr. Bridgwood served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII. He was stationed in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, and Normandy. Following his time in the military, he became an insurance agent with MetLife Insurance Company for over 20 years. Arthur enjoyed playing the piano and Yankee baseball. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Linda E., married to Peter R. Grimm of Canton, Ohio; granddaughters, Cynthia A., married to Jason K. Aikens of Canton, Ohio and Victoria G., married to Scott M. Hollenbeck of Ellicott City, MD; great granddaughter, Angelina Noelle Aikens; and a great grandchild on the way, baby Hollenbeck.
Mr. Bridgwood was preceded in death by his siblings, Frances, Clarence, Edward, Emma, Margaret, Katherine, and Walter.
Funeral Services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, on Thursday September 21, at 7PM. Friends may be received at the funeral home from 6-7PM. Interment will be held privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O.
