Antonio Betancourt, 93

Antonio Betancourt, 93 of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 11, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends.
Antonio retired from the hospitality industry and was the founding Pastor at John 3:16 Church. His love for his family and his unwavering devotion to the Lord formed the foundation on which he built his life. He was passionate about sharing his strong belief in the gospel with those that were receptive to God’s Word. Antonio was a Theology Instructor for the Bible Institute of COGIC, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Church Trustee and Treasurer. He helped organize, and participated in, Christian missions to undeveloped countries and held many more positions during his tenure with the Church. Antonio was a community advocate and was an early employee of the Spanish American Civic Association. He was an avid fan of the game of baseball and would often quote statistics that were obscure, but always proved to be accurate.
Antonio was blessed with a large family. He is survived by Iris, his loving and devoted wife of 63 years. In addition to his wife, Antonio is survived by his children, Antonio (Maria), Maxine (Wayne), Bienvenido, David, William (Connie), Elizabeth, Elias (Danette), Eliseo (Smaila), Esther (David), Daniel, Samuel (Melissa), and Paul; sisters Juanita, Mercedes and Catalina; brothers Eugenio and Jose (Patricia), 36 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mercedes and numerous brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at John 3:16 Church, 25 S. 10th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101. The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 20 from 11:00 A.M. – 12 Noon at the John 3:16 Church. Pastor Jose E. Cruz will be officiating. The Burial Service will follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, 1918 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to John 3:16 Church, 25 S. 10th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101.
