Anthony M. Pesarchik, 79

Anthony M. Pesarchik, 79, of Quarryville, passed away at his residence on Friday, February 23, 2018.
He was the husband of Dorothy Flower Pesarchik, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage this past June 25th. Born in Dunmore, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony J. and Mary Gadomski Pesarchik.
Anthony was a 34-year employee of PECO, retiring in 1996 after serving at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station as the corporate safety director. After his retirement, he drove school busses in the Solanco School District for field trips and sports teams for 21 years and loved every minute of it. He had also served as the equipment manager for the Solanco football team for many years.
An avid swimmer and scuba instructor, he had swam over 8400 miles in 20 years. Anthony also has volunteered for many years at the Lancaster YMCA where he also served on the Board of Directors.
He had a thirst for knowledge and it was known that there was nothing ever broken that he couldn’t fix.
Anthony was a US Navy veteran, serving as an Engineman 3rd class on the destroyer USS Hissem.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as an usher.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Michael A. Pesarchik fiancée of Angela Abbott of Philadelphia, and Michelle L , married to Mark Pieters of Willow Street; his five grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Markie, Michael Jr., Mary Elise, Maya, and Conor; his sister Genevieve Virbitsky of Mayfield, his brother Stephen Pesarchik of Lake Ariel, PA and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Jacobson.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 6-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Friends may call again on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603 from 12Noon-1PM, with the Mass to follow at 1PM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Anthony’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church at the above address or to Green Meadow Farm, 1130 Creek Road, Leola, PA 17540.

Years ago I met Tony down at the PB plant then to my surprise we meet again after I tired down at the YMCA. Tony and I would swim together and trade old work stories. He’ll surely be missed ! God Bless.

Dot…your wonderful man was so well thought of. Nicole and I were always impressed at his swimimg capabilities especially Nicole, being the water aerobic instructor at Weat Jupiter Camping Resort. He was always an interesting person to converse with and a man well appreciated. My thoughts and prayers are with you Dot, as you go through this difficult time…and you know I know!!!

My deepest condolences to thePescharik Family. Tony was a special person and an outstanding PECO Maintenance Department employee. He always had the respect of his Peers and Department Management. I know all who knew him mourn his passing and extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family on your loss. May he Rest in Peace.
