Alta M. Roland, 93

Alta M. Roland, 93, of Lititz, passed away, Wednesday, February 14, at Landis Homes. Born in West Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Elmer B. and Gertrude K. (Young) Newcomer. She was the wife of William H. Roland, who passed away March 7, 2010, they had celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in 2009.
After graduation from Hempfield High School, she had worked for Armstrong Cork Co., and was employed as the Cook Manager for Hempfield School District. She had volunteered for St. Joseph’s Hospital and Landis Homes, she made hospital visits for her church as well as Landis Homes. Alta enjoyed word seek and number puzzles, processing food, and gardening.
She is survived by her children; W. Lee Roland, husband of Rosalie (Hess), Mechanicsburg, Lois Shirk, wife of Robert, Leola, and Joyce Zehr, wife of Michael, Lititz, 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by, her daughter Judy Holsinger and her husband, Philip, two great-grandchildren, and an infant brother, Elmer.
Visitation will be Friday, February, 16, 2018 at Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA, 17543, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, with the family greeting from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Salunga Brethren Cemetery.
