Allen H. Hess, 94

Allen H. Hess, 94, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John G. and Anna Mary Hess. He was married 54 years to his beloved wife Shirley J. Hess prior to her passing in 2011.

Allen graduated from Manheim Township High School in 1949. He began his career as a school bus driver in 1953 with Manheim Township School District where he spent 40 dedicated years. He also drove for Ray Groff, Brightbill, and Conestoga Tours, finally retiring in 2023. Allen also enjoyed riding bike, mowing his lawn, and classic cars. He was a volunteer for the Neffsville Fire Company and longtime member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Allen is survived by 2 children, David A. Hess of Lancaster, PA, and Lois I. Hess of Nashville, TN, sister Barbara A. Hershey-Becker, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers: John Henry, Christian, and Lloyd Hess.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11 AM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will receive guests beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
