Allan Sabol, 71
July 22, 2023
Allan Sabol, 71, of Lancaster, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Passaic, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ann (Romanchick) Sabol. Allan was the loving husband of Sheila B. (Hogan) Sabol, with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Allan earned his bachelor’s degree from Millersville University in 1974. He worked as the Vice President of Purchasing for Colonial Metals, Columbia, until his retirement.
Of the Christian Faith, Allan was a member of Son Light Bible Church, Lancaster. Following his retirement, he volunteered at the Manheim Township Library. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Vikings, Dodgers, and Stars. He also enjoyed weekly golf outings with his loyal crew. Allan spent his free time working jigsaw puzzles, solving crossword puzzles with his family, and watching Jeopardy. A voracious reader, he read one to two books a week. And as all his neighbors know, Allan enjoyed daily, one-hour walks.
In addition to his wife, Sheila, Allan is survived by his children: Ben and Jenny Sabol, and Emily and Adam MacFeat; grandchildren: Jack and Hank MacFeat; and sister: Doris Sabol Marshall and her husband Bob. He is also survived by his faithful Bichon Poo companion, Dodger.
Family and friends will be received from 9AM to 11AM, Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Funeral Services will begin at 11AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Long Memorial United Methodist Cemetery, Neffsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Allan’s memory may be made to the Manheim Township Library.

To the Sabol Family,
My heart goes out to your family during this difficult time and I pray that you find peace and comfort in the memories you have with Allan. I think of the times we would see Allan at family gatherings at Adam and Emily’s home and I smile when I think about the love that he had for his family and especially his grandsons.

Dear Sheila, I was so sorry to learn of Allan’s passing. Just yesterday as I was walking in the neighborhood, I looked for him, as he was always out there walking as well. May your family be comforted by the many memories that you have collected over the years. My heart is with you.

Dear Sheila, Ben & Family;
It was with a great deal of sadness that I learned of Allan’s passing. Since the first shock, I have had many memories come back to me of Allan’s “Road Warrior” years when he would come visit our plant facility in East Syracuse, New York and the many opportunities we had to see each other at National Conventions. We worked diligently on a relationship beyond the business side which included Sheila and Sharlene. I remember his call to me proudly announcing his intended retirement on Cinqo De Mayo (His Birthday) six years ago and “not a day later!” As a testament to his stature in the scrap business, the successors to the Colonial Metals business called him back out of retirement to help a new buyer meet many of the former supplier companies. I spent time with him in St. Louis in February 2020 as he made those introductions. He truly lit up the room at those types of events. In an industry where personal relationships are highly valued, he had a ton of them!
We hope you have as many wonderful memories as possible to get you thru this very difficult time. Please know that we are thinking of you and extend our sincerest condolances.

Book sorting at the Manheim Township library will not be the same without Allen’s physical presence. He kept us sorters in line (in the best possible way!). He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Sheila, I thought of Allan daily as I was privy to the dialogue you had with Kay during the final days. You and the family were courageous and loving, and Al was blessed as he passed through his final chapter. During these final weeks I thought back through all the good times Al and I shared which started in 1975 when we met at Millersville University when you were finishing up your senior year and Al and I were taking graduate courses. Then we went our separate ways. Our friendship was serendipitously renewed in 1992 when Kay and I moved into the neighborhood. Al and I became best of friends as our interests and personalities were so closely aligned. Drinking beer and listening to good music were oten combined in neighborhood poker games. Those were good times. And the Christmas parties at the Sabol’s were always a joyous event. I will miss Al. He was fortunate to have a loving wife and son and daughter by his side during his final days. Joe Knepper God bless.
