The Viking Death Prayer
Mark J. Halliday
Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother,
My sisters and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people,
Back to the beginning.
Lo, they do call to me,
They bid me take my place among them
In the Halls of Valhalla,
Where the brave shall live forever,
Where thine enemies have been vanquished,
Nor shall we mourn but rejoice,
For those who have died
The glorious death.
Randy Rigg, 28, of York, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2019. The details surrounding his passing are trivial; what should not be overlooked was his true Viking heart and spirit.
Randy’s passion in life was being with those he could love and be loved in return. While he would worry for others, he insisted that no one worry about him as it was not part of his code. Ever since he was young, he lived his life by his code. “A knight is sworn to valor, His heart knows only virtue. His blade defends the helpless, His might upholds the weak, His word speaks only truth, His wrath undoes the wicked”
He will be remembered for many things, first for his beard, as it was very sacred to him and became a topic of conversation with everyone; his love of death metal, hiking and the outdoors, as well as his deep knowledge of Odin and his Viking religion. Music was a huge part of Randy’s life and a way he could connect with people on a deeper level. He enjoyed everything from going to live concerts to sharing his playlists or teaching someone how to play the guitar.
Randy is survived by his mother, Michele Rigg and sister, Carlynn Rigg both of Frenchtown, NJ; his maternal grandmother Barbara Wass, his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Yencarelli, and aunt, Samantha Wass Young, all of Florida. He is also survived by many close friends who always have and always will consider him a brother. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Michael William Wass Jr. Michael was someone that Randy always admired and spoke of frequently.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In his memory Randy’s family and friends request memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project, support.woundedwarriorproject.org/
In his true nature, Randy always wanted to help others over himself. ¬
Services have been entrusted to the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. (717)560-5100

RandyI knew you for just about 4 years and during that very short time, you made an impression on me. No matter the situation or circumstance, you remained calmI wished I had gotten to know you more outside of work. But from the years I have gotten to know you, your light radiated to all those who knew you. You had a unique way of crossing gaps of any social circle I have seen and you never let anyone feel left out.I think it was that calm demeanor that you had. That strength about you.Not great things alone must one give to another, praise oft is earned for nought;with half a loaf and a tilted bowlI have found me many a friend.Until we meet again, let us resume where we left
