Yvonne S. Alvarez, 76, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at Conestoga View where she had resided for the past 11 years. Born in the Bronx, NY she was the daughter of the late Manuel Steves and Carmen Alvarez Acosta. Yvonne was a former teacher in the Public School in Puerto Rico for many years. While residing at Conestoga View, Yvonne took part in many of the activities which she thoroughly enjoyed. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing the chimes, makeup and jewelry, and buying Avon from Anna Sosa. Yvonne was always smiling and polite to anyone she came in contact with. The family would like to thank the staff at Conestoga View for their compassion and care towards Yvonne during her 11 years there. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Mijon of Lititz; sister, Cecile Steves of Orlando, FL, and her children, Brenda, Maili, and Zinthia Martinez; grandson, Zavier Cuvas of Lititz. She was preceded in death by her brother, Louis Steves. A Celebration of Yvonne's Life will be held at 2PM on Friday, November 11, 2016 from the Chapel at Conestoga View, 900 E. King St, Lancaster, PA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Conestoga View at the above address.
