Yim Buthdy, of Lancaster, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on January 12, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in Cambodia, she was the daughter of the late Keo and Wan Noidang and the devoted wife of 55 years to Kham Buthdy.
Yim dedicated over 30 years of her life as an assembly line worker at Nissin Foods, where her strong work ethic and unwavering spirit left a lasting impact on her colleagues. She deeply valued her Cambodian heritage and was an active member of her community, where her culinary skills shone brightly. Known for her irresistible "sticky rice," Yim nourished many at community gatherings, bringing people together through the joy of food.
A vibrant soul, Yim cherished the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time with friends and going out to dance the night away. Yet, above all, her greatest joy came from her family. Yim was a devoted wife and loving mother to her daughters. She embraced her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother with warmth and adoration, her heart forever overflowing with love for her family.
In addition to her husband, Kham, Yim is survived by her daughters: Kelly Thorn On Buthdy, Bang On Buthdy, Sothorn Buthdy-Santiago, and Sakhon DeBoer; her grandchildren: Brandon Alexander Santiago, Noah Alexander Kham Santiago, Alejè Jacob Santiago, Alexis Jade DeBoer and Jaden Tyler DeBoer; her great grandchildren: Noah Alexander Kham Santiago, Jr. (N.J.) and Dominique Brandon Santiago; her sister Boun Tin Mek of California and three remaining sisters and two brothers all of Thailand as well as 23 nieces and nephews and 22 great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Yim is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
A traditional Buddhist ceremony will be held on Saturday January 18, 2025 at the Columbia Borough Fire Hall, 726 Manor St., Columbia, PA. 17512 at 9AM. Family will then receive friends at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. 17543, on Saturday January 18, 2025, from 2PM to 3PM with a funeral service to begin at 3:00 PM.
