Winfield Harvey Mapes III, 83, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Mennonite Home. Born in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Harold Edward and Ethel Koenig Mapes. He was married to Fanny Rich Mapes. A graduate of Culver Military Academy, he attended Northwestern and graduated from Bucknell University in 1953. While at Bucknell, he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Harvey worked for Pennfield and was later employed by LCSWMA as a weigh master. Harvey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed working in his yard and his greatest pleasure was being with his family. In addition to his wife, Fanny, he is survived by his son, Harold E. "Ward" Mapes II of Tucson, AZ, a daughter, Martelle M. "Marti" Booth of Ipswich, MA, daughter-in-law, Susan B. Mapes of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Sarah M. Ribis, Winfield "Win" H. Mapes V, Harold E. "Trey" Mapes III, Tanner J. Mapes, Devon M. Booth, and Connor R. Booth; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Ethan Ribis, two sisters, Joy O. Humphrey of Munster, IN and Margo M. Toth, wife of Dr. Robert L. Toth of Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his son, W. Harvey Mapes IV. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11AM on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Private Interment in Long Memorial UM Cemetery.
