William H. Smith, 79, resident of Brethren Village Lititz, Pennsylvania passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Born in Unicoi, Tennessee, Bill was a long time Erwin, Tennessee resident. He was the son of Cora Smith. Bill was married to Pauline S. Smith for 53 years.
Bill was employed for 26 years by the CSX railroad. During this time he served as the General Chairman of the Brotherhood of Railroad & Airline Clerks Union. He retired from CSX in 1991.
Bill was active in retirement serving on the board of directors of the Clinchfield Federal Credit Union, and the Clinchfield Railroad Museum. He served as the Chairman of the Democratic Party in Unicoi County and served on the Unicoi County Election commission.
Bill was a dedicated family man, enjoyed people and never knew a stranger.
Surviving besides his wife, is son: Greg Smith, one granddaughter, Lauren Smith.
