William J. Sam, 70, died at Conestoga View in Lancaster on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Born and raised in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Samuel Joseph and Mary (Ferris) Sam. William's wife the late Helen (Hobbs) Sam died in 2006.

A graduate of Nativity BVM High School, he was the owner operator of Hirschback Trucking in Iowa. William was a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

William is survived by two sons: Christopher Sam, fiancé of Irene Paige of Reading and Billy Sam of Baltimore, MD; his daughter Lori, wife of William Baldwin of Lancaster; five grandchildren: Tearah Burden, Ragen Baldwin, Trey Paige, Jasmine Sam and Riley Baldwin; and four siblings: Joseph Sam, Martha DeAndrea, Richard Sam and Rosalie Vanderham. His brother Anthony Sam preceded William in death.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
