William H. McGuire, 84, of Lancaster, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Scranton to the late William and Louise Holvey McGuire, his wife Edna Brooks McGuire died in 1980.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he retired in 1994 from Asplundh Tree Expert Co. after 44 years. He recently delivered parts for Nolts Auto Parts. Bill had been a PA Golden Glove Featherweight Champion and Sportsman of the Year. A NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan, he owned and sponsored Brehm Racing Go Karts for his grandchildren and friends. He was Presbyterian.

Surviving are two children, Karen Cooley (John) of Leola and Joseph McGuire (Kendra) of Lancaster, two grandchildren, two brothers, Phillip McGuire (Diane) of Scranton and James McGuire (Ann Marie) of Lebanon and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his wife Edna, daughter Carol Newcomer, brother John McGuire and sisters Marlene Pantelleria and Louise Uhl.

A Viewing & Sharing Time will be held 6-8 PM Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA.
