William R. Howell, 79, of Manheim died on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Lancashire Hall. Born in Tamaqua, PA, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Dorothy (Heffelfinger) Howell. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Jones) Howell. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor and quick wit.

Bill worked as a tool and dye maker for RCA/GE, retiring in 1987. He did volunteer work at the Old Barnes Hall and then the Youth Intervention Center for 17 years. Bill was a NRA member and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a board member at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, with Rev. Mark Ammerman as Pastor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Jeffrey A. Howell of Lewistown, son Todd Howell of Manheim, brother C. Francis Howell, husband of Claire, of California, brother David J. Howell, of Fairfield, 3 grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, and Justin, 3 great grandchildren: Faith, Myah, Shianne, and 2 "adopted" grandchildren, Katelyn and Samantha Roberts of Lancaster. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Howell and grandson Timothy Howell.

A Memorial Service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
