William James Hoover (Bill), born August 17, 1926 to the late Jacob and Mildred Posten Hoover, passed onto the Lord November 6 th , 2010, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Magdalene Reed Hoover, his three children: William J. Hoover II husband of Ann of Lititz, Kathleen H. Denlinger wife of Mark of Lancaster, and Sharon H. Lilley of Mountville.  "Pop" has three grandsons: Matthew Hoover husband of Jennifer, Christopher Lilley husband of Jennifer, and Troy Hoover.  "Pop Pop" has two great granddaughters, Kelsey and Kaylee daughters of Matthew and Jennifer.  The following siblings also survive Bill: Donald, Helen, Jacob, and Richard.  Edith, Robert and Janie preceded him in death.

Bill especially loved being with his family and enjoyed getting together as often as he could with his family especially during weekends, holidays, and special events. He was a defender of America during World War II by volunteering for the Navy and serving in the Pacific theater. Bill retired from Lancaster Lincoln Mercury with over 50 years of service, and owned and operated Hoover's Garage in Georgetown.

Bill was also a member of the following organizations:  Christiana Lodge # 417 F.& A.M., he was a 32 nd degree Mason of North America, Zembo Shrine, A.A.O.M.M.S., Scottish Rite of Lancaster, member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #27, active in the Slumbering Ground Hog Lodge of Quarryville, the Strasburg Sportsman's Association, Hemlock Lodge in Potter County and the Lancaster County Moonlite Cruisers where he proudly showed his 1965 Ford Falcon Futura.

Bill came to know Jesus later in life during his stay at Country Meadows, and surely Jesus will welcome him with open arms.  Known for his huge heart and his willingness to always help others, he will be sorely missed. Bill's family would especially like to extend thanks and appreciation to the entire staff at Country Meadows, an exceptional group of people who loved and cared for Bill for almost 2 years.
