William A. Hershey, of Millersville, spent Christmas with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, having passed away December 24, 2017, in his 91st year. Bill was the son of the late William F. and Cora (Getz) Hershey. Born in Lancaster, he graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School, class of 1945. After graduation, Bill enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Following his honorable discharge, Bill started working for Lancaster Press as a pressman, retiring in 1992, after 42 years of employment. Bill also graduated from Lancaster Bible College and served as Lay Minister at Boehm's United Methodist Church. In his later years, he served as an elder at Grace Baptist Church of Millersville. Bill is survived by the love of his life, Frances (Kahler) Hershey. Bill and Frances would have celebrated 69 years of marriage in February 2018. Bill is also survived by and will be greatly missed by his son, William Jr. (Linda); his daughter Beth Long, companion of Jeff Rankin, all of Lancaster; 5 grandchildren, Carrie Young (Gere), Chris Long (Jill), Mandy Sauder, companion of Scott Miller, Brandi Helt (Jason) and Heather Long. Bill is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Zachary and Nathan Young, Owen (O'e) Sauder, Emma and Dylan Helt, and Max Miller. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Reba Hershey, Lilian Polanski, Anna Mary Burns, Alice Dagen; and 5 brothers: Melvin, Roy, Robert, Richard and Lloyd Hershey. Funeral Services for Bill will be held at 12PM, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Grace Baptist Church, 121 Walnut Hill Road, Millersville, PA 17551. Family and friends will be received for a viewing from 11AM to 12PM, prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Grace Methodist Cemetery, Millersville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill's name may be made to the church at the address above.
