William Fittipaldi, 81, of Lancaster, went home to be with his beloved wife, Joy, and his son, David. He passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph and MaryAnn (Martino) Fittipaldi. William was married to the love of his life, Joy, for 47 years.
William Fittipaldi graduated in 1949 from Lancaster Catholic High School. He was a plant manager at Exide Battery Lampeter Division, retiring in 1997 after 30 years of service. He was a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. William was a member of the 8 th Ward Club and Elks Lodge #134. He enjoyed Duck Pin Bowling, golf and sports such as the New York Giants and Yankees.
William is survived by a daughter, Brenda DiAugustine, wife of Dennis of Lancaster; four grandchildren: Joey, Krissy, Jill and Michael; two great-grandchildren: Ian and Christian; a brother, Vincent Fittipaldi; and many nieces and nephews. William cherished his family above all
He is preceded in death by a son, David; and three siblings: Annette Bleacher, Philip and Frank Fittipaldi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 East Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 7-9 PM at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 and again from 10-11 AM at the church on Friday. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in William's memory to the Dominican Sisters of the Perpetual Rosary, 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
