William M. Dull, 87, of Lancaster, PA died on Friday evening Dec. 12, 2008 at Moravian Manor. He was the husband of June (Steinman) Dull for 52 years.
Bill was a tail gunner on a B-26 Marauder in the 319th Bombadier Group of the 440th Squadron, serving in the European and North African Theater of Operations. He & his unit were honored by the French with the Croix de Guerre with one Palm award. After serving in WWII in the US Army Airforce, he served as a Lancaster City Police Officer for 25 years. He was on the awarded pistol tournament team. He retired from the police force in 1974 as a Lieutenant. He was the Head of Lancaster County Parks Ranger for 12 years and was the 1 st Park Ranger at Lancaster County Central Park.
He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church.
He is the son of the late Harry Myers Dull and Mable I. (Mowrer) Dull. He is survived by a sister Hazel Dull and a brother Donald Dull, both of Lancaster. He is preceded in death by a brother, Carl H. Dull.
Bill was born in Lancaster, PA on Dec. 26, 1920. He graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1939. His hobbies included pencil portraits, history, the outdoors, Bible study and flower gardening.
Bill is survived by a daughter Billie Lue wife of Scott Detweiler of Landisville, son William S. husband of Crystal (Shenk) Dull of Lititz, step daughter J. Gail wife of Howard Levo of Wisconsin, step son Michael husband of Pat (Keeck) Dougherty of New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Landon Detweiler, Galen Detweiler, Breonna Dull, Monica Dull, Debra (Dougherty) Shackett, Michael Dougherty Jr., Ryann (Levo) Cronise, and four great grandchildren
Funeral Services for Bill will be held on Wednesday December 17, 2008 at 11am from Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bernard J. Kefer officiating. The viewing will be held at the church from 10-11am. Interment will be from the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill's memory may be sent to Community United Methodist Church, 130 Tennyson Dr. Lancaster, PA 17602. Charles F.
