Obituary

William N Duck Jr., 93, of Lancaster, PA passed away on February 2, 2014. He was born to William N. and Lula-May Hackman Duck in Centre County, PA on February 9, 1920. He grew up on the family farm in Millheim, PA with his late brother John J. Duck and surviving sister Mary E. Haddon. At a young age he expressed an interest in Science, and went on to study Biochemistry at Pennsylvania State University.

Upon moving to Philadelphia, PA to work for a subsidiary of National Dairy he sought a graduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University in 1945. Bill then went on to research at Franklin & Marshall College. Later, General Cigar Company in Lancaster hired him to conduct research on taste for cigars.

He was married to the late Dorothy Hampton Duck of Camden, New Jersey in 1943. The couple enjoyed travelling the world, and made multiple visits to Germany, Portugal, and Egypt. Bill was also an avid Ultra-Light pilot, artist, and fisherman.

Surviving him is his daughter Elizabeth Bringman, son William N. Duck III, and grandson William (Billy) N. Duck IV. William N. Duck III's wife Naomi Swailes provided care to him for many years. His personal nurse Cyndi Hager helped to keep him in good health both mentally and physically. Aseracare provided hospice services.

Memorial services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 222 N George Street Millersville, 17551 on February 6 2014 at 10AM. Friends and family will be received at the church from 9:30-10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church at the address above.
