William C. Bostic, of Lancaster, PA, died peacefully on March 26, 2011. Bostic was Executive Director of both the Pennsylvania Higher Educational Facilities Authority and Pennsylvania's State Public School Building Authority since July 2003. Prior to that post, Bostic served as the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, as the cabinet level Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community Affairs, and as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations in the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights.
Bostic served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Higher Educational Facilities Authorities and has served in leadership posts for several civic and professional organizations, including boards of the United Way of Lancaster County, the Urban League of Lancaster, the American Red Cross, the National Council of State Housing Agencies, the National Housing Conference, and the National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards. He was also a member of Concerned Black Men and Club 21.
He graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree in political science; and the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs with a master's degree in urban and regional planning.
Bostic maintained an interest in community and economic development, national and international travel and real jazz.
Bostic is survived by his wife Ann of 39 years, two daughters Nicole Bostic Kennon (Al) and Lauren Bostic, mother Ruth Bostic, sisters Ruth Bard (Delbert) and Janice Gooden, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 12Noon to 1PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the Memorial Service to follow at 1PM, Minister Tolly Albert Kennon officiating. Private interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Rd.
