Obituary

William W. "Bill" Walp, 86, of Brethren Village, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, where he lived since 2005. He was married to Ruth L. (Lewis) Walp for 61 years. They lived here in Lancaster most of their lives.

Bill was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late Carl T. and the late Anne (Williams) Walp. He graduated from Hanover Twp. High School, Wilkes College as well as the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University and the Commercial Bank Management Program Graduate School of Business, Columbia University.

He was a National Bank examiner for many years. He later joined Fulton Bank as a vice-president in Commercial Lending and after that worked in security. After retiring, he and his wife did a lot of traveling throughout the world. He served as President of the American Institute of Banking and President of the Robert Morris Associates. Bill was a member of the Conestoga Business Club, University Club and was an active member in the Masonic Lodge- Lamberton Lodge #476 F. & A.M., the Harrisburg Consistory, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Lancaster County Shrine Club and the Zembo Shrine. Bill and his wife were also influential in planning trips for the Lancaster Silver Threads. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards, especially bridge, pinochle and crazy crazy eights.

Bill proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII.

He was a lifetime member of Grandview United Methodist Church.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his 2 sons, Lee C. Walp, husband of Connie S., of Lancaster and William L. Walp, husband of M. Jeane, of Denver, CO. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Lisa, Charles, Luke and brother, Kirtland C. Walp, of Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Friends are invited to an Open House at the home of Lee and Connie Walp, 124 Bentley Lane, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 3-6PM. A Viewing will take place from 10-10:45AM Monday, May 13, 2013, at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Masonic Services will begin at 10:45AM, immediately followed by the Funeral at 11AM. Interment will be private.
