William B. (Bill) Hornberger , 99, passed away on October 25, 2016 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA. Bill was born in Denver, PA on June 1, 1917 and was the last remaining sibling of six children of Charles K. and Lizzie L. Hornberger. He was married 68 years to the late Charlotte W. Hornberger and was a member of the Lititz United Methodist Church. Bill is survived by three sons: Barry, married to Pat Vitkow of Lafayette Hill, PA; Chuck, married to Ted Gaiser of Portland, ME; and John, married to Cindy Hornberger of Landisville, PA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Bill graduated from the former Lititz High School in 1935. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed at Key West, FL. Upon discharge from the service, he was a Prudential Insurance Company agent for many years. After leaving the insurance field, he was employed by Farmers National Bank in Lititz, PA as a trust officer. He retired in 1982 from the Bloomsburg Bank – Columbia Trust Co., Bloomsburg, PA as Vice President in the Trust Dept. Bill was an avid trumpet player and member of the Rohrerstown Band and the Moravian Trombone Choir in Lititz, PA. He enjoyed playing trumpet while living at Masonic Village up until the age of 97. He also loved to play golf and vacation in Stone Harbor, NJ and did both regularly right up and well into retirement. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 East Market Street, Lititz, PA at 12:30 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the immediate family beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment of Bill's remains will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Village at One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
