Wayne R. Poff, 79, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Masonic Village. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Anna Hilgert Poff. Wayne was married to Margaret McClair Poff for 57 years on June 4 th .
A graduated of Columbia High School, Class of 1951, he served in the Korean War with the U.S. Marine Corps as a Corporal with the 1 st Amphibious Truck Co. 1 st Marine Division. Wayne worked in equipment development at RCA for 33 years, where he was awarded U.S. Patents for his designs. Following the closure of RCA he worked for Armstrong World Industries for 8 years before retiring.
Wayne was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church. A 32 degree Mason, he was a member of Columbia Lodge #286 F. & A.M. for over 50 years. Wayne enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and was active in the senior's golf league at Overlook Golf Course.
Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret are his son Robert, husband of Julianne Poff, and their children Alexandra, Robert and Lauren Poff, all of Lititz, nephew Steve Price and niece Sue Hill. Wayne was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine Poff Price and nephew Peter Price.
The Poff family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of Masonic Village and Dr. Louis Gray and his staff for the loving care they extended to Wayne.
A Visitation will take place 9:30-10:30 AM Monday, July 9, 2012, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, Lancaster, PA. Masonic Services will begin at 10:30 AM, immediately followed by the Funeral with The Rev. Andrea Brown officiating. Interment with Military Honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2:30 PM. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Masonic Village Employee Fund, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or the Grandview U.M.
