Walter C. Meyer, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 81 from a hard-fought battle with ALS. Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Carl H. and Josephine Meyer.

Walt was a proud graduate, having earned his doctorate at Fordham University, and dedicated his professional life to the field of research chemistry in automotive finishes. He began his career with DuPont de Nemours, Inc. in 1975, where he contributed significantly to the industry until his retirement in 2005. Known for his intellect and pitching, he enjoyed the friendship of many players on the softball team.

Beyond his professional achievements, Walt was a man of several sports. He was an avid racquet sports enthusiast and loved to play pickleball, spending countless hours on the court. Golf was another of his passions and could often be found on the greens several times a week. Walt loved to travel, taking many trips with his wife and family.

Fishing, a passion he embraced from childhood, was one of his great joys. Additionally, his love for competitive and pleasure sailing allowed him to see much of the U.S. eastern shores.

Walt is survived by his loving wife, Karen Meyer, his cherished daughter, Krista Steger (wife of Craig) and grandson, Ben Steger.
