Obituary

Our mom, Virginia “Ginny” Dissinger Sipe, 91, of Lititz, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 18th at Lancaster General Hospital. Ginny was a proud Lititz girl who grew up to marry her high school classmate and our dad - Gary Sipe.

Our mom grew up in an era where the landline phones were party lines and milk, bread and potato chips were delivered. She grew up with WWII air raid drills, hobos knocking on her parents’ door for free meals and when couples and families visited each other unannounced.

Her most meaningful relationships were her much loved high school classmates, fellow retirees and extended family

She graduated from Lititz High School in 1952. She went to work first at the Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster and then the rest of her career with Warner Lambert in Lititz. She was a member of the Lititz Moravian Church with long-standing volunteer work collating the church bulletins and serving at funeral luncheons.

My mom and dad were an especially welcoming, supporting, encouraging team for my sisters’ and my friends. This same gifting was spoken of when, upon her passing, one of the grandchildren wrote, “…she made you feel like the most important person in the room... ‘Thanks for always valuing us, believing in us, and celebrating every win and milestone...”

She is lovingly survived by her children, Barry Sipe (Denise Darling), Lynn Golitz (Mark Golitz), and Cindy Klahold (Les Klahold); her grandchildren, Kye Gillespie (Shawn Gillespie), Mara Golitz (Carl Roberts), Rachel Gaur (Ravi Gaur), Meghan Simmons (Justin Simmons), Cassie Golitz, Lauren Klahold, Abi Sipe, Evan Sipe, and Asher Klahold; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Following a private viewing for close family and friends, all are welcome to join the family in celebration on Tuesday, April 28th, at 11 a.m. at Lititz Moravian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ginny’s name may be made to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. The family also encourages those who knew and loved her to visit Zig’s Bakery for a piece of Moravian sugar cake or Wilbur’s Chocolate for a few Wilbur Buds, and in doing so, remember the life of our beautiful mom.
