IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia C.
“Ginger” Riley
March 11, 2019
Virginia C. "Ginger" Riley, 80, of Lancaster, passed away on March 11, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Cleveland, OH she was the daughter of the late Horace C. Tuthill and Ruth E. (Fischer) Tuthill.
Ginger was a graduate of Collinwood High School, where she met the love of her life, the late James J. "Jim" Riley, whom she married in 1961. In 1967, they moved to Lancaster for Jim's work and she worked as a Mortgage Consultant for what is now Wells Fargo. Ginger was involved in many groups like the Welcome Wagon, Lancaster County Garden Club, and the Susquehanna Bonsai Club, which she participated in along side her husband. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing and quilting. In her later years she became interested in genealogy and discovering her family's heritage. Ginger was an amazing baker and made addictive chocolate chip cookies and mouthwatering pumpkin pie. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who she was incredibly proud of. Her family traditions, dry sense of humor, and love will be greatly missed.
Ginger is survived by her children, Anne Cowher and her husband Gordon, of Lititz, and Kevin Riley and his wife Julia, of Nevada. In addition to her children, she is survived by her three grandchildren; Kelsey, Trey, and Connor Cowher, and several nephews and a niece. She is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Rossi, and her husband of almost 54 years, Jim Riley.
The family of Ginger would like to thank the staff of Lancaster General Hospital for their exceptional care.
