Veronica P. Zerbey, 85, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Monday, April 25, 2016 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. She was married to the late Fred C. Zerbey for 61 years before his death in 2014.
She was born in Cumbola, Schuylkill County on July 2, 1930 to the late Stanley and Mary (Jarinko) Manzick. Veronica worked as a secretary for Mathematics Professor Haskell B. Curry, and assisted him in typing and correcting the text book that he authored, Foundations of Mathematical Logic.
A member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, she volunteered for many years in the school cafeteria. Veronica served as president of Towne Club, board member of the Occupational Development Center, a founding member and past president of Four Seasons (a social club), and an inspector of elections. A gourmet cook, she enjoyed entertaining large groups in her home. Veronica also enjoyed travelling the world, especially to London.
Veronica is survived by her son, Karl F. Zerbey, husband of Diana Whitehead of York, one granddaughter, India Whitehead-Zerbey, her siblings, John Manzick, husband of Anna Mae Cabana of Hamburg and Martha Peak of Lady Lake, FL, and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Mary, Michael, Helen, Stanley, George, Pauline and Charles.
A visitation will take place from 5 to 7 PM, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 PM, on Sunday, May 1st at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Monday, May 2nd at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Chestnut St., Lancaster, PA 17603, with Rev. Michael E. Messner as Celebrant. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will take place on Monday at 1:30 PM. Memorial Contributions may be mailed to Sacred Heart Parish or to the Occupational Development Center, 640 Martha Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601.
