Obituary

Vernon H. Dyer, 74, of Lititz passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Edwin and Miriam (Herr) Dyer. He was the loving husband to Suzanne Rehm with whom he shared over 22 years of marriage. He was a 1962 graduate of Manheim Twp. High School. He later enlisted in the US Army where he proudly served during the Vietnam War. Vernon retired from the former Alcoa manufacturing plant in 2008 after 45 years of service in various positions. Vernon had a love for photography and enjoyed doing weddings, senior pictures and engagements. He also enjoyed biking, was a black belt in karate, and target shooting. He was a member of the East Petersburg Sportsman Association and the Elstonville Sportsman Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy, wife of Mark Kready, of Lititz; two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. A Committal Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Conestoga Memorial Park Mausoleum, 95 Second Lock Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603 with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vernon's memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
