Vera Miller Underwood was born, January 8, 1930 in Tremont, PA, to the late Wayne and Erma Miller and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Vera graduated from Tremont High School in 1947, moved to Manheim and worked for 5 years as a secretary at the asbestos plant. In 1952 she married Leslie B. Underwood. Later, she worked for 7 years as an adjustment correspondent at Schick, Inc., and held various office positions at Hubbard Farms, Lancaster, Lebanon IU #13, and Herrmidifier, Inc. Vera taught Sunday School and Bible School for over 40 years. She also directed the children's choir at Christ United Methodist Church for a number of years. After joining the Worship Center, she served as a greeter, and was involved with intercessory prayer and participated in 3 small groups. Her favorite pastimes were reading, swimming, and traveling. She loved spending time at the shore as well as the mountains. She also loved to dance. Vera was always the first person to come and help anyone in need. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the caregivers who dedicated themselves to Vera's comfort and care. She is survived by her spouse, Leslie B. Underwood, with whom she celebrated over 60 years of marriage; 2 children, Leslie (Larry) Baruffi and Scott (Donna Underwood, 4 grandchildren: Angelina (Greg) Hill, Seth (Kary) Baruffi, Madison Underwood, and TJ Underwood; and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Miriam Snyder, Carol Shank, and Kay Hoffer; brother-in-law, Bill Bush; and several nieces and nephews. Vera was preceded in death by her sister, Violet Bush. Funeral Services for Vera will be held at 12PM, on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A viewing will be held one hour prior, to the service. Vera will be laid to rest at Conestoga Memorial Park.
