Vearl W. Danz, Sr., 88, of East Petersburg, passed away on August 1, 2018 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy while surrounded with love from his family. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Evans) Danz, and the beloved husband the late Arlene G. (Wolf) Danz, his wife of 63 years, who passed in 2016. Vearl graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School. He honorably served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1950 – 1954. He worked as a letter carrier out of the Lancaster Post Office, from where he retired after 30 years of service. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and going to the casinos. Most of all he enjoyed every day that was spent with his wife and family. He was a life time member at the 8th Ward Club. Vearl was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lancaster. He is survived by his children, Vearl W. Danz, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Lancaster, Joseph A. Danz Sr.and his wife Carly of East Petersburg, and Donna M. Behn of Lancaster. Also surviving is a brother, Vincent Danz and his wife Nancy of Denver, PA; a sister-in-law, Gillian Danz of Elizabethtown; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by brothers William, Robert, Stanley, Joseph, Gerald and Edward, and sisters Catherine and Bernadette. The family would like to express their gratitude and send special thanks to Dr. Robert Shultz and the staff at Magnolias of Lancaster for the care given to Vearl during the past months. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602, with Father Brian Olkowski officiating. A viewing will be held prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vearl's memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P O Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
