Obituary

Tom "BIG" Miller of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 26, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne (Bucko) Miller.

Born in Kittanning, PA on February 25, 1947, he was the son of the late Ralph and Doris (Wright) Miller.

Tom graduated from Ford City High School, Class of 1965 where he lettered in multiple sports and still holds the record for the longest javelin throw in the FCHS history. After high school Tom started playing softball with various teams in the Ding-a-Ling Tournament, USSSA Softball, and Professional Softball with the Pittsburgh Hard Hats. For these accomplishments he was inducted into the Armstrong County and Ford City Hall of Fames.

Tom and his family moved to Lancaster, PA in 1980 for work at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, where he retired from in 2001.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family at HARAHOJI, the family camp located near Marienville, PA.

Tom was a fan of all Pittsburgh Sports (Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates).

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Brian Miller of Delta, PA, Bruce Miller and wife Pamela of Lancaster, PA, and Brandon Miller and wife Kristi of New Providence, PA, his cherished seven grandchildren (Catlan, Corinn, Kayla, Shayne, Greg, Trent, and Tabitha) and eight great-grandchildren (Madison, Caylee, McKenzie, Ethan, Evelyn, Layton, Esme', and Emily), a brother Tim Miller, and wife Patti of Crestline, OH, a brother-in-law Barry Byerly of Crestline, OH, along with two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Trudy (Miller) Byerly and daughter-in-law Diane (Davis) Miller.

He was very loved. May all the stories and his memory live on.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date.
