Obituary

Thomas S. (Tom) Schreck, 65, of Lancaster died at his home on Sunday, May 2, 2010 after a long illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles P. and Anna Mary Scheuchenzuber Schreck. Tom was married 36 years to Barbara Butt Schreck.

Tom proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1968. He taught sixth grade at Penbrook Elementary School in the Central Dauphin School District, Hamilton Elementary School in the School District of Lancaster, White Oak Elementary School in the Manheim Central School District, Parents Cooperative School in Taif, Saudi Arabia, and Manheim Township Middle School, before he became Assistant Principal of Pequea Valley Middle School and he retired in 2001 from Donegal Middle School.

Tom enjoyed reading, coaching, playing chess, playing the accordion, traveling and cheering for his football teams, Notre Dame and the Dallas Cowboys.

Tom will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, humility, and positive outlook on life.

He was a devout catholic and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lancaster.

The family would like to thank Asera Care Hospice for their support and care.

Surviving besides his wife, are three sons: David T. husband of Lori Siegrist Schreck, Holtwood, John S. Schreck, Philadelphia, Matthew A. Schreck, at home, four sisters: Jean Roda Acklin, Lancaster, Mary Louise wife of E. Roy McCauley, Harrisburg, Nancy wife of John P. Amico, Lancaster and Martha wife of Paul Hopkins, Claremore, OK.

Tom was preceded in death by a brother, Charles P. Schreck Jr.

A Mass of Christian will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster, Pa on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 11:30AM with Rev. Michael Messner as Celebrate. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2:30PM. There will be a viewing at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA on Wednesday night from 7-9:00PM with the Rosary recited at 8:30PM. On Thursday there will be a viewing at the church from 10:30-11:30AM.
